2023, About Me, travel

Hello Again!

You may have noticed a slight absence from the blog and social media for the last year or two or more โ€ฆ So, where have I been? What have I been up to?

School really is a time suck; I started Nurse Practitioner school in the summer of 2019. For those unfamiliar with NP school, it is a time-consuming process to go from a registered nurse to a nurse practitioner. Now I am the one ordering tests, interpreting results, making diagnoses and prescribing medications!  It took me about 2.5 years to complete my program.

I graduated NP school in October 2021 and started working in primary care in December of 2021. I thought I was done with school and hoped to get back into traveling, but I was called back to school and started my doctorate degree in June of 2022. I just graduated with my DNP in June 2023.

Yes, I am officially a โ€˜Doctorโ€™ of Nursing now. Also, in June, I left my primary care job to start getting back into emergency medicine โ€“ taking a job in urgent care. I took the month of July off work and traveled (as you can see from my recent posts on social media).  I am already working on posts with my type-A travel tips for Norway and Iceland.

My big announcement (yes, bigger than getting my DNP) โ€ฆ  I had a kid! In April of 2020 (yes, the VERY beginning of COVID), my husband and I welcomed an adorable baby boy, who is now an energized toddler.

Though school, COVID, and a new kid did impact my travels earlier, my son alone wonโ€™t impact how much I travel and blog in the future. I 100% plan to travel with my son. I mean, I already haveโ€ฆ He has already been to Turks & Caicos and Iceland for international destinations and has been on multiple trips within the USA. I have plans for at least one more international trip with him next year.

In fact, my goal is to travel internationally at least once a year with him and at least one international trip without him as well. What will change is more kid-friendly travel content and maybe more kid-friendly travel locations. So keep an eye out for some more kid-friendly content!

My Travels Since 2019:

  • Sodus Point, NYS (2020)
  • NYC with my son (2021)
  • Turks & Caicos with my son (2022)
  • Denver, Colorado (2022)
  • United Arab Emirates (2022)
  • Cairo, Egypt (2022)
  • Iceland with the family (2023)
  • Norway (2023)
  • Boston with my son (2023)
  • Plus multiple visits to Ohio and Pennsylvania to see family

SO many beautiful experiences! But it also means I am VERY behind on posts with my type-A travel tips and recommendations for each of these wonderful destinations. I hope to make at least one post for each of these trips. Please be patient and keep an eye out as I start the long process of catching up on sharing my experiences and tips.

Future Travel Plans For 2023:

  • San Diego, CA – ENA conference
  • Lexington, KY – DNP graduation ceremony
  • Pittsburgh, PA – annual Nutcracker trip

The rest of 2023 isnโ€™t looking nearly as fun as July (Iceland and Norway), but I am still very excited about the upcoming trips. I have never been to San Diego or Lexington so I would appreciate any recommendations.

Finally, I just wanted to say โ€˜THANK YOU!โ€™ to all of you who have been reading my blog. I appreciate your support more than you know.
